Jean Leary Pallai painted the whole book in acrylic, working from the ocean wildlife, migratory maps and coastal scenery of Duxbury, Massachusetts. The text is rhythmic enough to carry a bedtime reading, and accurate enough to teach from.

Written, painted and published in one family
Last season was an awful one for the striped bass fishery. It was a scary reminder of the importance of conservation.
Jeremy Pallai wrote the book on sabbatical from a Boston technology company, wanting to share the spring and fall blitzes with his three young children, and asked his mother, the artist Jean Leary Pallai, to paint it. Megan Pallai published it, handling editing, print prep, fulfillment and customer care. Their hope is to give parents and teachers a simple way to teach kids about striped bass.
